Cristy Morrison Named Leader of the Year 2010

Leadership Stillwater Alumni Association (LSAA) members met at the Stillwater Country Club Wednesday, November 16, 2010, for their annual meeting. Members are graduates of the comprehensive Leadership Stillwater program coordinated every 18 months through the Stillwater Chamber of Commerce.

Cristy Morrison was presented with the Leadership Stillwater Alumni Association 2010 Outstanding Leader Award. Scott Jones, the 2009 Outstanding Leader Award recipient, gave a summary of Morrison’s accomplishments and presented her the award. He mentioned Morrison was a graduate of Leadership Stillwater Class X, has served on the board of directors since that time and served as President for 5 years. She is also a graduate of Leadership Oklahoma Class XV and currently serves on their Board of Directors and Executive Committee. Most recently Morrison was recognized by The Journal Record as one of Oklahoma’s most influential women as a “50 Making a Difference” finalist. Jones concluded by summarizing Morrison’s dedication to promoting Stillwater as a visitor destination to all those who will listen – and on occasion, even to those who may not have known they were interested.

Leadership Stillwater was designed to ensure future civic leadership by developing skills of emerging and potential leaders from all sectors of the community. Its purpose is to identify and motivate potential leaders, acquaint those leaders with community needs, provide opportunities for interaction with existing leadership on community issues, and build a greater understanding of the nature of community leadership.

Past winners of this award include Scott Jones, Stan Clark, Norman McNickle, Andrea Kelly, Mary Rupp and Bud Lacy.
