Scott Jones Named Leader of the Year 2009

Scott Jones was named the Leadership Stillwater Alumni Association (LSAA) Leader of the year at the Leadership Stillwater Class XIX Graduation Ceremony. The commencement address was given by Stan Clark, President and Founder of Eskimo Joe's and last year's Leadership Stillwater Alumni Association's Leader of the Year. Clark presented Scott Jones, Senior Vice President of Private Banking at Stillwater National Bank, with the 2009 LSAA Leader the Year award.

A 1990 graduate of the Leadership Stillwater program, Jones was chosen for his dedication to the Stillwater community. He recently served as Chairman of the Citizens for the Future of Stillwater and OSU whose efforts resulted in the passage of a Use Tax to provide $15 million for the new Gallagher-Iba Arena. He also chaired the past five Stillwater public school bond issues that resulted in $68 million in funds for major school construction projects, plus transportation, safety and technology upgrades. The latest project was the fall 2009 completion of the new Pioneer Stadium.

Scott was the 2007-2008 recipient of the Pioneer Service Award presented by the Stillwater Public Education Foundation (SPEF). He and his wife, Cheryl, served as SHS Pioneer Booster Club Presidents in 2004-05. They were also the recipients of the 2007-08 Bronze and Blue Award for exemplary support of athletic programs at Stillwater High School.

Currently serving as President of the Mya Gonzales Foundation board of directors, Scott is also Treasurer of the Stillwater Family YMCA Foundation. He is also a two-time Past President of the Stillwater Public Education Foundation, a Past President and board member of the Stillwater Area United Way, and Past President and 20-year member of the Frontier Rotary Club. Scott is a Class XIII graduate of Leadership Oklahoma.

Scott's professional experience includes working over 33 years in financial sales, lending, business development and marketing. Scott has been with SNB for 21 years and is currently responsible for Private Banking in the Stillwater region. He has previously worked as the bank's Marketing Director.

Leadership Stillwater was designed to ensure future civic leadership by developing skills of emerging and potential leaders from all sectors of the community. Its purpose is to identify and motivate potential leaders, acquaint those leaders with community needs, provide opportunities for interaction with existing leadership on community issues, and build a greater understanding of the nature of community leadership. Past winners of this award include Stan Clark, Norman McNickle, Andrea Kelly, Mary Rupp and Bud Lacy.
